After reviewing clubs and festivals from all over the world the Jazz Club Jury team is proud to announce its own series of concerts, Jazz Interlude! It will begin with the Dave O’Higgins weekend: Saturday night gig on January 26th, followed by the classic English brunch on Sunday 27th.
It has been a rumour for quite some time now, but in an article published at the end of last year we confirmed it: Jazz Club Jury will bring some of the finest in jazz to the top of the world.
The first ‘appetizer’ in the Jazz Interlude with series of concert was the Finnish-Estonian quartet Nordic Sounds. It was an intimate gig which formed part of TING Nordic Culture Festival. The event brought cultural Nordic music, delicious meals, magic shows, comedy and entertainment to Helsinki.
If you live in the Helsinki area, or are planning to visit the city, make sure to take a look at the Jazz Interlude with concert calendar. In the spectacular Koko Jazz Club, located in the heart of the city, you will experience jazz in a way you have never experienced before.
The first guest of Jazz Interlude will be London-based, world-renowned saxophone ace, Dave O’Higgins. A regular on the international music scene, during his career O’Higgins has recorded 13 albums as leader with several lineups and he has performed with music world icons such as Frank Sinatra and Ray Charles, with Cleo Laine, the BBC Big Band and with young stars like Jamie Cullum and Kyle Eastwood, son of the legendary actor and filmmaker Clint.
Accompanied by some of Finland’s finest Sibelius Academy musicians – Jukkis Uotila on piano, Jussi Lehtonen on drums and bassist Eero Seppä – O’Higgins will bring his neo-bebop repertoire to out Jazz Interlude at Koko Jazz Club, on Saturday January 26th starting from 9 pm, for the first show of the Jazz Interlude with series.
On Sunday January 27th, from 12, it will be time for the exclusive classic English brunch, a unique chance to listen to some great live music while enjoying some of the chef’s delights. The performance will be shared with delicious food and excellent music, with the help of brilliant vibraphonist Severi Pyysalo, Ville Pynssi on drums and Timo Hirvonen on bass guitar.
An entire weekend of jazz, one of the best saxophonists around, an electrifying Saturday night performance and a fancy jazz brunch accompanied by more jazz…Do we have to add anything more?
See you there!
