Denver’s own Dazzle Restaurant and Lounge is one of West United States favourite destinations for those who enjoy fine dining, as well as listening to live jazz. Dazzle has been Best Jazz Venue (by Westford, Rocky Mountain News and Out Front Colorado), Top of the Town – Best Live Music Readers’ Choice (5280 Magazine in 2010) and it has been included in Downbeat Magazine’s ’150 Great Jazz Venues’ list.
Originally a Japanese restaurant, Dazzle was developed into a restaurant for good food lovers and jazz fans by Karen Storck and her crew. Initially jazz music came exclusively from the extensive vinyl collection belonging to Storck’s husband, Miles Snyder. It was in 2002, with the recruitment of Donald Rossa as general manager, that the restaurant grew to be a premiere live jazz venue with solid food, great service and an eclectic atmosphere.
In 2003 Dazzle became the hot spot for local jazz musicians, such as Bob Montgomery, Paul Romaine and Eric Gunnison, with its weekends dedicated to live jazz.
Dazzle Restaurant and Lounge started to host jazz performances more often. Because of its explosive live music schedule, as well as its impeccable service, delicious food and fancy drinks, Dazzle is a multi-year awarded Best Jazz Venue. In 2005, Rossa bought out Storck and Snyder becoming Dazzle’s sole owner.
As for today, Dazzle is still going strong, presenting an authentic and unique jazz experience, unlike anything in Colorado. It hosts shows by national and international jazz artists (names that have performed at Dazzle include trombonist Slide Hampton, saxophonist Richie Cole and bebop pianist Bob Dorough) and it offers menus that focus on American traditional cuisine (its Mac and Cheese is an award winning recipe), with a twist.
Live performances are featured in both the Dazzle Jazz Showroom and the Dizzy Room, seven nights a week. The Showroom (which is also available for private parties and corporate events) is designed with jazz listeners in mind, featuring acoustically treated walls and optimal seating. The Dizzy Room, which is also acoustically treated, has an incredible bar that serves an impressive assortment of cocktails, from Martinis to Manhattans.
